Punjab is the north-Indian state that is known for agriculture and culture. But because of technological advancement and growth, construction of new buildings and development of both private as well as government infrastructure facilities are taking their shapes. With this, a part of fertile land of the state is witnessing tall and modern buildings.
Few striking facts that make Punjab an exceptional state are:
Its land is highly fertile.
75% of total population is still engaged in agriculture and its related businesses.
13% of the total food grains across the nation are produced in Punjab.
Punjab has the lowest level of hunger as per the India State Hunger Index 2008.
Since 1974 all the villages of Punjab have been connected to state electrical power grid.
Industrial growth rate in Punjab is higher in comparison to the average industrial development in India.
The state has so much stored for everyone that more and more people are getting attracted towards it. In addition to all these, Government in Punjab along with semi government and private bodies is taking every step for more progression and economic development in the state. Combined efforts from each department are giving rise to more expansion and progression. And one such sector that is doing a commendable job of planning and developing the state is PWD i.e Public Works Department. This department owns the responsibility of handling almost every public sector task in Punjab.
If we talk about it in a bigger sense then PWD is the state or central owned Government body that is engaged in the designing, planning and construction of Government assets like hospitals, colleges, schools, police, buildings, courts etc. Also the construction of bridges, flyovers, roads, footpaths etc is sustained and preserved by PWD. To complete all the plans successfully, it issues tenders in the respective state and center. From very small to large scale projects are handled through PWD tenders.
Coming back to Punjab, it can be seen that construction in the state at present is in its full swing leading to many new businesses. For each such task the respective body is issuing Punjab tenders. Punjab PWD bridge tenders are one of such tenders that are issued by Public Works Department for the construction of buildings, roads and bridges. It also provides technical advocacy to the State Government in all its construction related activities.
